Airtel Money, the digital financial services arm of Airtel Africa, has started conditional trading on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. The business is valued at about £5.3 billion, roughly $7 billion.

Shares began trading on Friday, October 9, under the ticker AMC, at an offer price of £1.96 per share. Until the shares are formally admitted, only investors who applied for and received shares in the offer can trade them. Admission and full trading are expected on October 14.

The offer is made up of 270 million existing shares sold by current shareholders. That means Airtel Money is not issuing new shares or raising fresh money from the listing. If the overallotment option is used in full, the offer will be worth about £582 million, around 11% of the company's share capital.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) took part as a cornerstone investor, with an allocation worth £67.2 million.

Launched in 2011, Airtel Money serves about 53 million monthly active users in 13 African countries, supported by more than 2.3 million local agents.

Airtel founder Sunil Bharti Mittal said London remains an attractive place to invest, recalling Airtel Africa's own listing there in 2019. Airtel Money chief executive Ian Ferrao described the listing as the start of a new chapter for the company.
