The Headies Moves 18th Awards Toronto Finale To April 2027, Expands Awards Programme

The organisers of The Headies have moved the 18th edition of the awards from October 23, 2026, to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.

They announced the change in a statement on the awards’ official Instagram page on Saturday. They said the later date will allow them to expand the programme in Nigeria and Canada before the Toronto finale. The statement said the road to the 18th Headies continues.

Activities under the “Road to The Headies” banner will still go ahead during the period originally set for the awards, and the full schedule will be shared through the awards’ official channels. The edition runs under the theme “Africa to the World,” and the Toronto programme also includes a Global Trade and Investment Summit.

The organisers apologised to guests, partners and attendees who had already made travel plans. Founder Ayo Animashaun said they recognise the inconvenience the change causes, especially for guests who have committed time and resources to joining them in Toronto.

No reason was given for the postponement other than the plan to expand activities.
