INEC warns political parties against vote buying, bribery and ballot box snatching ahead of 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned political parties against vote buying, bribing officials and ballot box snatching ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu spoke on Friday at a stakeholders' meeting with party leaders, candidates, community leaders and the media.

She said INEC will monitor candidates' spending and prosecute anyone who buys votes, and urged members of the public to report vote buyers. She added that stolen ballot boxes would be of no use to those who take them, because of the technology now in place.

She said INEC is ready for the elections and asked parties to campaign peacefully and without insults.
