The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a pistol during a security operation in the state. The arrests followed intelligence-led efforts to tackle robbery and other criminal activities.

In a statement on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the Oluyole Divisional Police Officer received a distress call at about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, reporting an armed robbery around Sumal Junction Roundabout in Ibadan. A patrol team was sent to the scene and arrested the suspects.

Police named the suspects as Sunday Obasola, 29; Kayode Bamikole, 28; and Durodoye Ayobami, 23. They recovered a locally made pistol, a live cartridge and a black TVS motorcycle. Radio Nigeria Ibadan reports that the suspects allegedly robbed a tricycle driver and two passengers and injured others.

The suspects remain in custody, and the case has been transferred to the Violent Crime Response Unit in Eleyele, Ibadan, for investigation. Police Commissioner Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga reaffirmed the command’s commitment to quick responses to distress calls and urged residents to keep supplying credible information.
