Sowore demands independent investigation into Nigerian Air Force crash in Igbokoda

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for an independent investigation into the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State.
He made the call on Friday during a visit to the crash site, saying people involved in the plane's maintenance and procurement should not lead the inquiry, and that every part of the aircraft must be recovered and examined by independent experts.
The Air Force ATR-42, registration NAF 931, crashed on October 5 on a routine flight from Benin City to Lagos. The Air Force says all 25 people on board, five crew and 20 passengers, died. Early government statements had put the number at 32.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has promised a thorough investigation, with evidence secured and examined before any conclusion. President Tinubu has also ordered a probe and declared three days of national mourning.
