2027: Tinubu kicks off campaign in Kaduna October 24

President Bola Tinubu will flag off his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24, according to the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

Yari spoke to State House correspondents on Friday after briefing the President in Abuja on the council's preparations and the timetable for state visits during the campaign. He said Mr Tinubu asked to be updated on where the council stands.

The council's inaugural meeting is set for October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall. Yari said the President has approved the planned state visits, and that the team intends to start work in earnest on October 24. The next stop after Kaduna, he said, is Port Harcourt, and the full timetable will be released after the inauguration.

Yari was named Director-General on August 22, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Secretary. The presidential election is scheduled for January 2027.

Speaking about the race, Yari said he does not believe opposition figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi can unseat the President. He also defended the administration's record, saying it will feature strongly in the campaign.
