Trump slams Norway over Nobel Peace Prize decision, says it has an 'indelible stain'

US President Donald Trump has criticised Norway after the Nobel Peace Prize went to someone else, saying the decision left an "indelible stain" on the country.

He spoke at a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, hours after the Norwegian Nobel Committee gave this year's prize to Navi Pillay, a former judge at the International Criminal Court and former UN human rights chief.

Trump called her a "mystery person" he had never heard of, described the decision as disgraceful and embarrassing, and said Norway would not be forgotten for it. He followed up with social media posts on Friday and Saturday.

Trump has complained about not winning the prize in each year of his presidency. The Nobel Committee is independent of the Norwegian government.
